Butterfly Capital of the World
Located in southern Florida, Coconut Creek is known as the Butterfly Capital of the World. The town has an annual Butterfly Run and Butterfly Festival to commemorate this status.
Coconut Creek is a beautiful town full of trees, butterfly gardens, landscaped roads and waterways. In fact, 1/6 of the town or 1,244 acres (nearly two miles) of land is devoted to parks, preserves and greenways. It is the first community in the State of Florida and eleventh in the United States to be certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat.
Seniors enjoy visiting MainStreet, the pedestrian-friendly downtown development that is situated in the center of town. Located in the MainStreet development is the Promenade of Coconut Creek, a lifestyle center filled with many shops and restaurants. Seniors also enjoy the local Seminole casino where there are more restaurants, poker games, gaming machines and live entertainment.
Coconut Creek is ideally located inland, though not far from Florida’s beautiful sandy beaches. Well-known neighbors are Pompano Beach, located to the southeast and Boca Raton, located to the northeast of Coconut Creek. Senior travelers visit Coconut Creek Florida to enjoy its great atmosphere and close proximity to exclusive shopping, great restaurants and golf courses.
