This is an award-winning hotel that has been featured in the Great Hotel series on the Travel Channel. It’s truly lovely. Lots of Savannah’s nicest places to stay are old mansions, but Marshall House was built in 1851 as a hotel, Savannah’s first. It was so very luxurious that at one point it advertised both hot and cold baths on every floor! Now it has many more amenities, and its location in the historic district couldn’t be better. A final plus is that it would be difficult to find a comparable hotel in another city for less than twice the price.
