Dénia is a port town so there are fishing boats, tourist excursion boats, and giant ferries that can take you and your rented car to the nearby Balearic islands if you want an additional adventure. The fishing boats are often owned by, or contracted with, local restaurants, which means that the seafood here is exceptional.

You can get almost anywhere in Denía by walking. With parking becoming more and more difficult, you’re better off to walk as much as possible. There are a few taxis, if you want to avoid driving. If you plan to take day trips it’s best to rent a car. If you don’t want to drive, there is an excellent bus system. Be sure to check your options before you buy a bus ticket. There are express busses and there are the “slow boats” that stop in every pueblo within a 20 mile radius of the main road.
If you decide to drive, read up on the rules of the road. There are specific rules for driving in the roundabouts that are intended to maintain a good flow of traffic but which, I’m convinced, were specifically designed to rid Spain of excess tourists….
